This photo is from early this fall, when my daughter met briefly with Judge Rockett, who pronounced her even more an American and even more a Ruggles than she already was. It was a rather dreary morning, actually, saved only by the good cheer of my parents.
We spent close to an hour waiting outside of the Newton District courtroom, surrounded by unhappy people in dark suits, talking to their lawyers with worried expressions
We finally had our 5 minutes with the judge. The honorable Rockett made the best of his obvious ascerbic and weary perspective on the American Legal System. But he signed on all the dotted lines, deemed her re-officially re-adopted according to the US of A, and we got out of there with little fuss.
By the time we left, Rada was hungry, tired and cold. I’m very glad we’ll never have to go through it again.
The photo, though, is absolutely priceless. It was taken outside the courtroom while we were waiting. She is the very Best Girl, is my Rada. Look at that happy girl, all Ruggles, all American.

Congratulations! What a cutie! I’m curious why you had to go through this process. Is this normal?
Congratulations, Molly, to you and Rada!
I want a copy of this photo!
