Proposed agenda:

  • Blogging 101 (at 6:30!)
    • MF: We moved the wiki to infoanarchy. Value in keeping it public as long as we can.
    • MF: Prefers that final product not be a wiki – for branding, continuity, lack of need to moderate
    • MF: shows his example of a finished site (mockup). Discussion of layout. Need for simplicity for non-web-adept folks who may be using this resource.
    • MF: discusses vision for various sections of site, including sections to expand to in future.
    • BI: do we want to show only free or also paid tutorials in other tutorials links?
    • MF: we’d prob want to do both, but in 2 separate categories, as with the blog software.
    • BI: need a header ie :”click on a blogging tool below for a short video tutorial”
    • BI: you don’t want any of these videos to be very long, but many tools ie Typepad have so many tools. We’ll want a series of videos for many of these tools
    • MF: yes definitely eventually – but first, we want to give total newbies the very basics, how to get blogging from a background of nothing.
    • LB: how detailed?
    • MF: just 4-5 minutes to guide them through setting up a new blog and making their first post.
    • MF: goals: get enough videos up, get the site cleaned up, and be able to launch the site
    • BI: With these long term goals, maybe we want a standard top-level table of contents for each blog tool, with intro video and then several things to look for in future videos
    • MF: Also Lisa was going to make a shot-list of ideal things every 1st-level video would include
    • EG: Let’s have each link from the main page go to a subpage for each tool, with a big thing up top linking to the intro video, and then the links to *all* the other resources for that tool. Good to crosslink from the general categories but also important to have a way for someone to choose a tool and then find all its info in one place.
    • EG: Gotta go now, so notes end here for this portion. Hopefully someone else takes over…
