Notes:
- No meeting on Nov. 11 for Veterans Day; dinner instead anyone?
- Shimon, Josh, Garrett, Kris, and j talked about blogs on Saturday
- Dim sum or brunch outing on Sunday, Nov. 14?
- Test run of recording equipment for future meetings
- Lisa loaned j a microphone. (Thanks, Lisa!)
- Who’s bringing recording equipment?
- The test didn’t work.
- Garrett, Christina, and j on blogs and knowledge management
- We’re using my laptop for the presentations, so I couldn’t really take live notes. The batteries in my PalmPilot died during Garrett’s talk.
- Christina:
- personal km vs. Km personal v. Multiple people
- why blog?
- Blogs mean different things to diffeerent people
- someone’s voice vs. Corporate voice
- information ecology
- how people keep found things found is key–blogs are good for that
- search, retrieval is important–metadata archiving
- existing technology
- blogging is about the person, not the technology
- j talked about feeds and knowledge management
- I couldn’t take notes about my own presentation while I was giving it. Maybe I’ll fill this in a little later
- Garrett:
- we’re always looking for new sources of knowledge
- started in Blogger, moved to get feed & group support
- it’s easy to blog
- Garrett highly recommends that any blogger use an aggregator
- the batteries in my PalmPilot died
- Garrett’s talk is very similar to one he gave on Saturday. His PowerPoint slides from that talk
- Because the panel will happen in twelve days, the slides are not publicly available yet. The intention is to make them available after the talk on Tuesday, November 16th.
- What else?
