No Meeting on June 15

ø

Just a reminder that we aren’t meeting on June 15–at least not at Berkman. If someone wants to e-mail the list to gather people together for dinner or a meeting elsewhere, please feel free to do that. Neither Erica nor j can make a meeting on the 15th. We’ll gather at Berkman again on June 22.

The 22 would be our joint meeting with the Boston Weblogger Meetup, but it appears that group has had a leadership and schedule change, so they may not join us that week.

Upcoming events of interest:

2006/06/08 Meeting: Dinner at Gandhi in Central Square, 7 pm

2

Since Harvard University’s Commencement is Thursday, June 8, we are being wise and not meeting in Harvard Square.

Erica has made a reservation for a group dinner at a restaurant not in Harvard Square and away from the grad-craziness: Gandhi (Indian) in Central Square at 7 pm. Here is info and a map. The reservation is for 10 people so we’d love to collect rsvps and get a sense if we need to make the reservation bigger. (Comment to let us know you’re coming, but show up even if you don’t!)

Neither Erica nor j can be at the meeting on June 15. If the rest of the group wants to gather for dinner, great! Neither of us is able to coordinate that dinner, however. Volunteer to make a reservation and circulate the info by commenting!

We will return to our regular weekly schedule on June 22–just in time for the Boston Weblogger Meetup!

Welcome, OPML Camp participants and the Boston Weblogger Meetup Group!

  • Introductions
  • Welcome back, Scott Johnson!
    • It’s not that we aren’t welcoming Scott Johnson. Well, we aren’t, exactly. But that’s not what I’m trying to say. Were Scott here, we would most definitely welcome him back. But apparently Scott’s family is ill, so he is not traveling. We’ll have to figure out when he can return. In the mean time, good health to your family and you, Scott!

    • Perhaps Scott will enlighten us about his new project, Ookles, a photo tool sure to stun us all.
  • The Museum of Science is podcasting. j has invited them to join us some week to talk about what they’re doing.
    • Adam Weiss from the Museum of Science just happens to be here, so he’s very graciously taking over and telling us all about the museum’s podcasts and such.
  • Anyone want to tell us about Beyond Broadcast: Reinventing Public Media in a Participatory Culture last weekend?
    • Erica says “Ooh, me me me! I can!”
    • Other people can too!
  • Why, yes, we do have an ad in the Gazette!
  • Upcoming events of interest:
    • If you’re definitely going to one of these far-flung supercool events, comment and let us know so other blog group folks will know to look for friendly faces (and to potentially coordinate travel, lodging shares etc.). You can definitely expect to see many of us at the events local to Boston.
    • OPML Camp, May 20-21
    • BarCampBoston, June 3-4
      • Let’s have a blog “track” at Bar Camp since so many of us will be there…

OneWebDay Brainstorming Meeting Tuesday, 5/9, 7 p, John Harvard’s, Harvard Square

ø

Erica suggested that our group get involved somehow in the planning for OneWebDay, an observance honoring the Internet. She thinks people in our group would not only be interested in the celebration of the Internet, but also in ensuring something neat about the event will happen around Boston. Join her and others working on planning at John Harvard’s in Harvard Square on Tuesday, May 9, at 7 pm. Details are on their wiki. An RSVP is requested.
