Wendy Koslow moderated in Dave Winer’s absence.  Rocking.

The meeting will be back at the Berkman Center. We aren’t certain this meeting will be Webcast with a quality microphone. We are looking into the situation. A fine fellow plans to bring his MP3 recorder, so audio may be available after the meeting.

Like past and future agendas, if you have an item you’d like on the agenda, comment, get blogging privileges from Jay , or contact him or the other j.

    2004/03/25 Proposed Agenda

    2

Important note about the meeting location: the meeting will be in 201 Pound Hall on the Harvard Law School campus, not in the conference room of the Berkman Center as usual. Dave encourages people to bring their laptops to test the WiFi. The room will be larger, too.

    **The meeting was not Webcast.**

In lieu of a Webcast, j took live notes.

    Proposed agenda:

    • Laundry list of things we need to make the room work
      • Webcasting equipment
      • Projectors
    • A meeting next week without Dave?
    • BloggerCon II
      • Party before the conference and brunch afterwards
      • Session proposals
        • Bob and journalism?
        • The schedule is up. What’s left? What’s next?
      • Volunteers
    • Critt wants to talk about thomaspmbarnett.com/weblog after he arrives later (8 pm?)
    • Eat
      • Penang tonight
      • Cambridge Common last week
      • Several people have said they’d suggest places if they knew more about restaurants in the area. Eating has information about area restuarants.

Dave will not be here on Thursday, April 1. The meeting will take place in his absence back at the Berkman Center.

Like past and future agendas, if you have an item you’d like on the agenda, comment, get blogging privileges from Jay , or contact him or the other j.

Dave Winer Posted a Preliminary BloggerCon II Schedule

    ø

Dave Winer posted the preliminary BloggerCon II schedule on the BloggerCon blog today. He emphasizes that it is a draft schedule and things will change. There are still some empty spaces, too.

In case anyone hasn’t heard of this conference yet: it is a free conference about blogs and blogging that will happen on Saturday, April 17th. Registration is required; and, you can do so through the BloggerCon blog. There’s a rumor circulating that registration might close soon, so if you haven’t registered yet, you might want to do so quickly.

Welcoming and networking events are being planned for Friday evening, April 16, and Sunday, April 18.

Dave Winer Posted a Preliminary BloggerCon II Schedule …

BloggerCon Meet & Greet on Friday and Brunch on Sunday

    1

Mike Walsh is trying to organize a few networking opportunities at BloggerCon and wondered if anyone would be interested in either or both of them. Comment below or contact Mike to express an interest.

On Friday night, April 16, from 7-10 pm and for brunch on Sunday, April 18, from 10 am to noon, Mike is “… thinking of grabbing a function room someplace in or around Harvard Square … for people attending BloggerCon. I was thinking of having several tables (rounds) that seat eight people and several standup cocktail tables which will accommodate 4 people. I will try like hell to get wireless access.

I was also thinking about adding a small amount of structure to the
event by allowing people to “reserve” tables by focus area. For
example, one table for the people who want to discuss blogging and
Librarianship/Research, one table for journalism issues, one for
    healthcare, etc. etc.”

    2004/03/18 Proposed Agenda

    ø

I can’t find Dave’s agenda online, so here it is:

    • BloggerCon II
      • Aggregators + Infrastructure
      • Poster session
      • Party
      • Adam Curry’s session
      • Dave needs volunteers
        • In particular, he would like some moderators to monitor IRC and the Webcast and knock down any commercials

    Proposed agenda:

    • BloggerCon II
      • Party before the conference
      • Session proposals
        • Doesn’t Bob have something to say about a journalism sesssion?
          • Bob isn’t going to be here
    • Eat
      • Cambridge Common if they’ll take us
      • Penang last week
      • Several people have said they’d suggest places if they knew more about restaurants in the area. Eating has information about area restuarants.

    Post Notes:

Reminder: On March 25, the meeting will be in Pound Hall, not the Berkman Center. Bring a laptop if you can.

Like past and future agendas, if you have an item you’d like on the proposed agenda, comment, or contact j. (No, there’s no mutiny here. Jay’s traveling and isn’t able to take care of this stuff right now.)

    2004/03/11 Proposed Agenda

Dim Sum, Chau Chow City, Sunday the 14th, 11 am

    ø

Join us for dim sum before the Dowbrigade heads to distant lands. We will gather at Chau Chow City, 83 Essex Street in Chinatown, for dim sum on Sunday, March 14th at 11 am. Friends, significant others, and family members are welcome, too. Look for Sun, j, or Michael.

South Station is the closest stop on the Red Line (and may be the closest subway stop). Chinatown is the closest stop on the Orange Line. There is a tiny parking lot very close to the restaurant that is not free. Street parking may be available a short walk away in the financial district. If you could let me know in advance if you plan to join us, that would be very helpful because when Sun and I get to the restaurant, we can put in a request for a table if we know how many are coming. If you’re coming from the Somerville/Cambridge/Arlington area and want to travel there with someone, let me know ’cause I’ll be coming from that direction and I know how to get to the restaurant.

Dim sum is Chinese food that some people think is quite tasty. It’s often eaten for brunch. The Chau Chow City waitstaff roams the restaurant with carts filled with steamed foods, fried goodies, dumplings, soup, seafood, and assorted desserts. Customers select what to eat as the carts pass by. The food is often served in steamer containers with 2 or 3 items per container. Going with a group can work well because there’s more opportunity to share and try different items. It is possible to order from Chau Chow City’s menu.

Addendum 3/15: Nice group for dim sum. Tasty food, too.
