The School will be held at the headquarters of the Getulio Vargas Foundation, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, from April 3 to 7, 2017. The South School on Internet Governance’s program of activities will be carried out with a special focus on issues related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Participants will be government officials, private sector representatives, civil society organizations and key members of technical communities. It is hoped that these event participants will have knowledge of Internet governance in the region, with a focus on sustainable development goals. The main objective of the program is for participants to discuss the importance of Internet Governance for the development of the region.

Children and adolescents in the digital age: new perspectives for public policies April 4 / São Paulo
The event aims to promote an exchange of experiences in the production of knowledge about children online and how public policies incorporate this theme. To propose policies for the promotion of access and safe use of the Internet by children and adolescents based on evidence and on the most recent international experiences of knowledge production.

Cultural Practices and new technologies: challenges for the production of indicators – April 19 / São Paulo

Technological transformations, with changes in cultural consumption and the strengthening of large corporations in the digital field, become challenges for the production of indicators in the area of cultural practices. Research that turns to the study of cultural consumption has little by little incorporated communication and information technologies into their discussions, but these digital features still appear more as alternative forms of traditional practices than as new cultural habits per se. This is the case, for example, with the theoretical and methodological framework proposed by Unesco (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) for comparable measurements between countries in 2009. In this workshop, the goal is for researchers in the field of cultural consumption to exchange experiences and discuss this paradigm shift, identifying problems, opening discussions and suggesting new measurement models.
