Dr Argyro Karanasiou is a Lecturer in IT & Media Law at the Centre for Intellectual Property, Policy & Management (CIPPM), Bournemouth University, UK. Currently, she is also involved in media related projects with the Council of Europe (Regional Expert in online media and reconciliation in South Eastern Europe) and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of Media (Digital Media Expert). In 2013, she was awarded an IGF Ambassadorship by ISOC and in 2014 she was named a PbD Ambassador by the Informations Commissioner in Ontario, Canada.

Argyro’s research discusses conceptual frameworks for decentralized internet regulation with a particular focus on free speech. Her current projects span a wide range of topics ranging from IoT and wearable tech to smart cities and mesh networks.
