Great visualization of a poker cheat at “Absolute Poker,” an online gaming site. The site has a database of millions of poker hands, from which the author (Michael Josem) chose only those with over 500 hands, a total of 5,251 players. The players were plotted on two axes: VPIP (“voluntarily put into pot”, a percentage measure of how often a player puts money into the pot) and win rates (measured, in the jargon of poker nerds, as “big bets per hundred” or “BB/100”)
It’s hard to be loose and lucky, but it’s impossible to believe the guy in the upper right hand corner, the red dot outlier. (Another view.)
