Its nice to be loved again
Wow, what a day! I’ve lived through many an election but never, ever, ever have I felt the electricity in the air as I do today.
I arrived this morning to an email from a friend in the UK: “….but from the view of Limeyland it’s been a great night for the USA…. Shame about the Red Sox, you can’t have everything I guess, but well done your country.”
The president of Kenya declared a public holiday in Obama’s honor. In Indonesia, where Obama lived as child, hundreds of students at his former elementary school erupted in cheers when he was declared winner. In Britain, The Sun newspaper borrowed from Neil Armstrong’s 1969 moon landing in describing Obama’s election as “one giant leap for mankind.” Rama Yade, France’s black junior minister for human rights, told French radio: “On this morning, we all want to be American so we can take a bite of this dream unfolding before our eyes.”
Every blog that I follow that has posted an update is excited about our President-elect.
Our country has a long way to go. President Obama has a long road ahead. We did not get where we are overnight and we won’t get out of it overnight. I hope and pray, though, that change is coming.
Yes, it sure does feel good to be loved again!
