  1. I was just wondering: What is the future of Linux? Mostly servers?

    1. Well, certainly servers, but Linux is in pretty much everything: all Android phones, and lots of TV screens, picture frames… the list goes on. Eventually it will win serious share in laptops and notebooks, but meanwhile it’s doing pretty well all over.

  2. Why will you not attend to the Economic Development CS in November?

I am going there to discuss the issues Google will bring with Google Fiber to the industry. Another part of the internet industry with Google as a gatekeeper has consequences that many people have not realized yet. 1. Thanks for inviting me. I’d be glad to go if I can make the schedule work around the stuff I get paid to do. (I even know a little German, from having taken it in high school, two generations ago.) As for Google, I have my problems with some of what they’ve been doing. (Here is one example.) I also think they are doing some good things in the world. (Here is one example.) So I don’t think the company (or any company that size, especially one so young) is a monolith with a single set of missions, methods or mentalities. Still, I think it’s good to challenge power, and they have plenty of it.

  3. Hey Doc,

It looks like the idea/concept/framework you provided in “The Intention Economy” are beginning to come to fruition.

But I’m thinking it will apply more to user privacy/big data usage/Government spying than it will strictly to business, though I think it will have a business application as well.

  4. Gosh – the earth sandwich was a blast from the past!
