DOD Plans On-line Voting

Once
again, the department of defense is on the cutting edge of 21st
century democracy. After the debacle in Florida, it was
clear to most modern-minded voters that the day of on-line elections
was overdue.

No longer. The DOD has just awarded a
contract to IT consulting firm Accenture, to develop an on-line voting
system for American servicemen and women to vote in the 2004 Presidential
elections, wherever in the world they might be (the possibilities
are endless).

We may all be voting on-line soon. Accenture will support the DoD’s
Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) in the a Secure Electronic Registration
and Voting Experiment (SERVE), which Congress has mandated as way to
improve voting opportunities for Americans.  Read more from Internet.com
