A Year of Living Dangerously

Those of us who earn our livings in the classroom certainly remember our first real teaching experience. Sometimes its good to be reminded of what it was like when every move was a new one, and every day was a surprize.

Brendan Halpin is a first year teacher in a Boston area high school. As such, he gets the rookie assignments. “Having three level-three, or bottom-track, classes is pretty standard practice for new teachers — everybody foists all the classes they don’t want onto the new guy.”
