Quiet Snow Day in August

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg advised people to stay
home, to treat this steamy Friday in August as a "snow day." Thursday’s
power failure, combined with a humid Friday morning in August, transformed
much of the city into an oasis of calm.

Hundreds of people converged on the Port Authority Terminal in Midtown
after morning news reports said "limited service" for commuter
bus lines had resumed though that did not appear to be so this morning.
Later, buses did begin to take weary commuters out of the city.
