Our good friend Sun wonders if we will be blogging directly from the beach here in sunny South America. Our reply:
So far we have blogged from a cybercafe and from our sister-in-law’s house (hogging the only phone line). We doubt very much we will actually be lying on the beach blogging for the following reasons:
1) We shudder at the thought of all those pesky grains of sand getting under our keyboard and into open ports and drives. This afternoon we freaked out when we saw a semi-microscopic ant scurrying around beneath our translucent keyboard. We lured him out with sugar and sweet talk, then crushed him mercilessly.
2) As much as we like the idea of watching classic episodes of Hawaii 5-0 and Beach Blanket Bingo on our Precisousss, the screen looks so washed out in direct sunlight that it seems a shame to waste the watts, and
3) One of the reasons we signed on with the “Buho” plan (unlimited access 9pm to 7am) is so that we DON’T spend ALL of our time hunched over a computer in our rented apartment. We feel it will be a good exercise in discipline to spend our days ruminating and rough-drafting, and then uploading during the cooler tropical nights.
FYI the temperature here is in the mid-80’s and the humidity is brutal. We are hoping that there will be a refreshing sea breeze once we get out of the big city and closer to the actual beach….
