I think this Musicplasma site is pretty accurate — type in the name of a band/artist and it shows you a map of artists who orbit around it.

    I agree. It is pretty close in identifying your personal musical nebula. Some of the connections I had never even thought about. For example, how do you go from Radiohead to Costello. Very cool.
    The fragment of the song that played in the background was nice as well.

    There’s so much music out there I haven’t listened to yet! Most of it is crap, but a lot of it is good, I’m sure. And there are whole genres I’ve barely even touched!

    This looks like a nifty tool I can use to pick out some choices.. It seems like it’s based on Amazon, but it also seems a bit better. I wonder what its engine is like underneath.
