About our workshops
In addition to your main session – the General English course – you can choose from one of our various workshops. We offer a range of English language workshops to help students improve their language skills. These English workshops are usually taken in the afternoons and are closely linked to the course books used in the main classes. They are an opportunity to receive extra tuition and to further practice skills being studied during the term. Choose from Grammar, fluency, writing and exam training English workshops.
Workshop Options
GE5G – Grammar Workshop
If your
grammatical knowledge is not quite as good as it could be, this is the course for you. In addition to your main session, you will spend one English lesson a day, Monday to Friday, focusing on grammar.
When you arrive, your teacher will identify which areas of grammar you need to practice and will then help you to develop them. At every level from Beginner to Proficiency, students have the opportunity to practice the grammar areas being focused on during the term for an intensive 45 minutes every day.
GE5F – Fluency Workshop
If your speaking is not as good as it could be, sign up for a Fluency Workshop and spend one lesson a day, Monday to Friday, practicing your speaking under the guidance of an experienced teacher. You will be guided to help improve your English in everyday situations, during discussions about general topics such as news, holidays and hobbies. Your teacher will be following your improvement and helping you do your best to enhance your English speaking skills in the shortest period of time.
GE5W – Writing Workshop
This English workshop focuses on writing skills. This is especially useful for those who are going into a situation where writing documents in English would be particularly important to them. Those who want to go to university or work in an office for an English speaking company will have a particular need to develop or improve this skill. Certain students who have already achieved a high level of overall proficiency in all four skills of English language may wish to enrol in this course.
This English course provides learners with an opportunity to fine-tune their writing skills.
The negotiated syllabus reflects the individual student’s needs and covers various features of writing including: style and register, formal versus informal writing, paragraph development, topic sentences, linking devices, coherence and cohesion, analysis of text types, note-taking skills and recognizing fact versus opinion or bias.

This workshop is designed to help you prepare for the Cambridge Advanced English Exam. This examination is recognized by many universities, English speaking companies and by the UK Border Agency when it comes to visa extensions.
