Kate Konschnik

In September, Kate Konschnik will join the ELP as its new policy director. Konschnik will launch the ELP Policy Initiative, which will conduct research and analysis on emerging environmental law and energy law issues for consumption by policymakers at the state and federal levels. Konschnik will collaborate with the Emmett Environmental Law & Policy Clinic to build out existing clinic projects into longer-term initiatives, develop entirely new policy projects from scratch, collaborate on projects with other Harvard schools and departments, and help promote policy-relevant research by HLS environmental faculty.

Before joining HLS, Konschnik served as Chief Environmental Counsel for Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, working on issues ranging from climate change to the Gulf oil spill. Prior to her work with the Senate, she served as a trial attorney for the Environmental Enforcement Section of the Environment and Natural Resources Division at the U.S. Department of Justice for seven years, focusing on power plant and Clean Air Act litigation.
