The Technical University of Munich* – “Help! The Universities (in Germany) Are Falling Apart!” – 10
At the universities in Baden-Wuerttemberg fire safety measure are not being complied with, according to the Ministry of Finance and the Economy. In the universities of Lower Saxony there are problems affecting the entire infrastructure, i.e., facades, roofs, windows, automated ventilation, and fire prevention, “to mention only the most important areas,” says Werner Nording of the Ministry of Science and Education. Reports from the ministry indicate that 2.8 billion euros (3.9 billion US dollars) would be required for all the necessary repairs and renovation in all the universities in Lower Saxony.

An den Hochschulen in Baden-Württemberg werden teilweise die Brandschutzvorkehrungen nicht erfüllt, heißt es aus dem Ministerium für Finanzen und Wirtschaft. Und in niedersächsischen Unis liegt das Problem im Grunde in der gesamten Infrastruktur, also bei Fassaden, Dächern, Fenstern, Elektro-Lüftungstechnik und beim Brandschutz, “um nur die wichtigsten Themen zu nennen”, sagt Werner Nording vom niedersächsischen Wissenschaftsministerium. 2,8 Milliarden Euro werden für Reparaturen an den hochschulbauten des Landes benötigt, meldet das Ministerium.
