The Tale of Zero

A friend of mine asked me about the history of Zero which led me to the
Wikipedia entry on Zero
which led me to a Professor’s page on the discussion of zero and why
division by zero is undefined. Something that should be taught in grade
schools but is probably forgotten by many many people over many years
of not actively using it (except for people who deal with divide by zeroes
everyday in their life).

The main point to remember is x / 0 is an undefined operation. It
is not infinity as many others might think. For a long discussion check
out the page. It also shows a faulty way to get 1 = 2 all because
of the assumption of being able to divide by zero.
