S&D through ILL?

Hi Tom,

Ever since you and Claire pointed out the need for us to check and make sure that any s&d requests coming through ILL have the s&d link next to them, I have noticed just how many of these (all that I have seen DO have the link) we get.  The last time I worked through the Awaiting Harvard Processing queue, there were over 30 requests in the queue, and easily more than half of them were s&d eligible, but coming through ILL.  I was just wondering if this is ok, or if it is a matter of educating patrons about how to use the s&d feature in HOLLIS, and if we should discuss a way of discouraging them from making such requests through ILL.  What are your thoughts?

Great question, Jessica! While we definitely do want to process these, we could use email routing to give the patron a heads up that the item was actually available at Harvard and will be filled via Scan & Deliver.

The feature would work exactly like Referred to ILL Staff- instead of routing the request to Scan & Deliver Processing, we’d use the Email dropdown and select “Routed to Scan & Deliver” (if that works as a prompt). The form email will pop up telling the patron we’re going to fill it via S&D, and once the email is sent the request will be automatically routed to Awaiting Scan & Deliver Processing.

Sound good? I’ll try to have this ready by the end of the day tomorrow.

UPDATE: The email routing functionality is now live. Please start using it immediately, and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again to Jessica for inspiring a great idea!
