Cambridge & MIT & Free Wireless

Cambridge, Massachusetts, and MIT are partnering to provide free wireless access to the city, according to an Associated Press story. I’ve since heard rumors that this news is not true, but I haven’t been able to verify or unverify it through online sources. Does anyone know anything about it?
