A New Breed of Puzzle Hunts

A plethora of fun awaits those bereft of the baggage of religion, family duties, patriotic struggle, and political intrigue.  Somewhere in-between trainspotting and carving a living out of a hostile wilderness lie the modern cornucopiae of puzzle hunts.  Some are star-caliber.  And hey, the Boston race wasn’t too long ago…  Meanwhile, if you’re interested in this winter’s Mystery Hunt, let me know.

    There is also Midnight Madness, a run-around-the-City-and-solve-puzzles-in-teams hunt. It’s a lot of fun, and I had the honor of coming up with the theme and backstory for the most recent instance.

    In hindsight, it sounds a lot like The DaVinci Code (Cool! They have a web site with puzzles!)…

    Hey, now that *is* neat. Where is a good overview site for the set of such hunts? Only days after writing this, I met some friends who had just created their own boston-area scavenger hunt, just like Urban Challenge, only they saved $60 each and spent 20 hours organizing it. They would have loved to do U.Ch., had they but known.
