The Blogging of the President 2004: the Radio Show

NOW HEAR THIS:

The Blogging of the President: 2004, a live radio special

Sunday January 25 from 9-11 pm EST, from Minnesota Public Radio and airing on public radio stations nationwide (here’s a list of stations playing the program). Christopher Lydon will be hosting the first sustained blog conversation on network radio and you’re all invited to join in.

The purpose is to air out the internet effects that the political campaign has suddenly made obvious. We want to encompass the new voices and communities, the critique of institutional journalism, the expressive possibilities beyond politics, the doubts, the hype, and the truth.

Among the guests will be Atrios, Andrew Sullivan, Josh Marshall, Jeff Jarvis, Frank Rich, and many more, including you, if you’ll tune in, phone in, or just blog it as we speak. If this were a political campaign, which it’s not, the slogan would be: Take back the conversation.

The Details:

Check your local listings to see if your local public radio outlet will carry the show. If not, we urge you to inquire of your own public radio station about their carrying the program. Here’s a list of stations that have committed to carry the broadcast:

Or, get it streamed over the web at: http://www.mpr.org. We will also list all streams on BOPnews on the day of the show. We welcome all suggestions and questions. Post them here in the comments or email info@bopnews.com. As soon as we know the call-in number, we’ll let you know! Nice to see you back on the air.

I hope you don’t have to do the show from St. Paul.

I’ll be traveling in NH out of reach of both WHDH and WZBC. Please archive the show so I can download it later in the day.

    Chris,

Sounds like a great line up. Call Dave Winer on his cell phone (now that his ears are fixed) and tell him to plug your radio show on Scripting News. You might do the same with Josh Marshall since he is one of the guests.

ps. Great interview with Dick Morris. The guy may be a snake but he’s a very intelligent and focused dude.

You’ve got the wrong hierarchy working here. Gary Hart doesn’t even blog, or at least hasn’t since November, and you don’t have Doc Searls on your list as he mentions in his blog. What up? Or is this going to be a Northeast phenom?

There’s going to be (or should be) a lot of controversy about role of blog in politics. The Democratic party can’t afford to start experimenting at this time with “new politics.”

In my “Political Observation” above, I’d like to clarify: when I say the “True Believers” are concentrating on picking the “best candidate”, I really should have said “the candidate who would make the best president, regardless of electability.”

I think you should start blogging again! I forgot to mention in my other comment on your other post how great a blogger you are! I will keep reading these as your opinions on american politics really interests me. I think ‘take back the conversion’ should trend on Twitter as its rather relevant to nowadays society too! Thanks
