Dear Mr. Graf, dear friends,
Last week Francesca continued reading to us a portion of the transcript of another judicial interrogation in the matter of the investigation into the death of the child Joseph Abdulla. The witness was a young boy from Sebnitz, Daniel Steiner. The transcript has the Dresden district court file number 270 Gs 3141/00 414 Js 53329/00; the interrogation was carried out on 21 November 2000, at ten o’clock in the morning.
Francesca continued with the reading from the point where she had ended last week:
In response to a follow-up question about whether there was anything conspicuous about Joseph when they pulled him out: “He lay there, lifeless. He was pale and he’d thrown up something, really vomited. It looked yellowish.”
In response to a follow-up question, ‘Vomit from the mouth . . .’: “Something whitish, yellowish. It was foamy, too, what came out of Joseph’s mouth, after we’d pulled him from the water.”
In response to a question about who was in the group that was standing at the edge (of the pool) and laughing:
“Maik Heymann, Svantje Kraft, Kai Bleschke.“
In response to a follow-up question about whether Ute Schneider and Ronny Kunte were also there:
“Ronny Kunte was also there.”
In response to a question about Rene Grossmann:
“I don’t know him at all.”
In response to a question about Alexander Patzold:
“He was there.”
In response to a question about Expert-Lustig’s daughter:
“She was there.”
In response to a question about Holger Ellmer:
“He was there too.”
In response to a question about Frau Schuster:
“She was there. She has a pharmacy, or she works there in the Hirsch Pharmacy.”
In response to a question about Jens Busch:
“He was there too. They all watched and then just laughed.”
In response to a follow-up question about Rene Grossmann:
“No, the name really means nothing to me.”
In response to an objection that parts of his testimony are correct, and other parts are not:
(No answer by the witness was recorded.)
In response to a question by Inspector Krebs about whether he knew the Grossmann family, perhaps from school:
“No.”
In response to a question from the judge about whether he had perhaps simply forgotten:
“That name really means nothing to me. I can’t figure out now, who that’s supposed to be.”
In response to a question from the judge about whether he had seen crime stories on television, stories where the older the clues were, the more difficult it was to solve the crime. In response to a question about whether that hadn’t been a burden for him for three years:
“It wasn’t as if I didn’t care. I just didn’t talk about it with anyone, only with my girl friend, Marlen Birnstein. She’s still my girl friend.”
In response to a question about when he had talked to her about it:
“About three months ago. She came to me and asked me what was getting me down and eventually I told her. She’s in the ninth grade at the middle school in Hinterhermsdorf. I’m in the ninth grade. The eighth grade wasn’t anything special, but the ninth is.”
In response to a question:
“My Mom had a change of heart. My mother said, go and be questioned before the court.”

Sehr geehrter Herr Graf, sehr geehrte Freunde,
Francesca hat letzte Woche einen Teil eines Protokolls uns vorzulesen. Es war das Protokoll noch einer richterlichen Zeugenvernehmung in der Todesermittlugnssache des Kindes Joseph Abdulla, Geschäftszeichen des Amtsgerichts Dresden: 270 Gs 3141/00 414 Js 53329/00, am 21.11.2000 um 10.00 Uhr durchgeführt.
Sie fuhr mit dem Vorlesen fort, wo sie letzte Woche aufgehörte:
Auf Vorhalt, ob etwas Auffälliges war an dem Joseph, als sie ihn rausgeholt hatten:
Der lag nur leblos. Er war blass und er hat solches Zeug rausgespuckt, förmlich erbrochen. Das sah gelblich aus.
Auf Vorhalt „Erbrochenes aus dem Mund . . .“:
Etwas weißlich, gelbliches. Es war auch schaumig, was aus dem Mund von Joseph kam, nachdem wir ihn aus dem Wasser geholt hatten.
Auf Frage, wer bei der Gruppe war, die am Rand standen und gelacht haben:
Maik Heymann, Svantje Kraft, Kai Bleschke.
Auf Vorhalt auch Ute Schneider und Ronny Kunte, ob die auch dabei war:
Ronny Kunte war auch dabei.
Auf Frage nach Rene Großmann:
Den kenne ich gar nicht.
Auf Frage Alexander Pätzold:
Der war dabei.
Auf Frage die Tochter von Expert-Lustig:

Auf Frage KHK Krebs, ob er eine Familie Großmann kennt, vielleicht aus der Schule.
Nein.
Auf Frage der Richterin, ob er es vielleicht jetzt nur vergessen hat:
Mir ist das wirklich kein Begriff. Ich kann den jetzt nicht zuordnen, wer das sein soll.
Auf Frage der Richterin, ob er im Fernsehen auch mal Krimis sieht und je älter die Spur ist, desto schwerer ist es etwas aufzuklären. Auf Frage, ob ihn das drei Jahre nicht belastet hat:
So egal war es mir nicht. Ich habe nur mit niemandem darüber geredet, nur meine Freundin Marlen Birnstein. Das ist auch noch meine Freundin.
Auf Frage, wann er mit ihr darüber gesprochen hat:
Vor einem viertel Jahr. Die kam eben zu mir und fragte mich was mich bedrückt und irgendwann habe ich es ihr erzählt. Sie geht in die Mittelschule der 9. Klasse in Hinterhermsdorf. Ich gehe in die 9. Klasse. Das 8. Jahr war nicht so besonders aber das 9.
Auf Frage:
Meine Mutti bekommt neues Blut. Meine Mutter hatte gesagt, geh hin zu den Vernehmungen.
