AANS Oral Board Review Course

The AANS Oral board review course is held over a three day period, timed to occur just prior to the Neurosurgery Board examination.

The course was created by Dr. Julius Goodman and is an outstanding resource for those who are considering taking the boards.

The format consists of a “plenary” session where attendees are queried by an expert in one of neurosurgery’s subsection areas.

In addition, there are “breakout” sessions where a one on one review of cases occurs with a board certified neurosurgeon and different specialty areas are reviewed.  During the three days of plenary session, a participant may have several of these one half hour “breakout” sessions.

The course focuses on “real world” neurosurgery and not the unusual cases that are the stuff of case reports.  This makes the course highly relevant to the actual board examination, bringing the attendee up to speed on the basics from a wide range of neurosurgical practice.

I have taken the course and highly recommend it.
