There is an admission to make. There are just two main objectives for this blog:

  1. To see whether participation in the research study that is being conducted for this author’s ALM thesis at the Extension School can be increased via a blog such as this
  2. To test whether talking about the author’s experiences and emotions – regarding the aforementioned study – will actually result in catharsis

This observational study is somewhat nervewracking for its author. There is the desired outcome that a.) participation does increase as result of this blog and b.) catharsis does occur as a result of the expression of feelings. But the point of any investigation is to find the truth, which may result in either what is desired or what is not. And once the investigation reaches its conclusion, the findings must be admitted, if not necessarily accepted.

Definition of Terms –

  • admission – an acknowledgement of the truth of something
  • catharsis – the purging of the emotions or relieving of emotional tensions, especially through certain kinds of art, as tragedy or music
