Professor Oreskovic is a best known for his projects fostering innovative health care interventions in the area of tobacco control, obesity prevention, and HIV surveillance. His recent research and publications with his team of doctoral students is focused on interaction between internet health and society conducting research in the area of internet addictions of adolescents as well as in the area of digital epidemiology and its application of real-time mobile or social digital data for improving public health or preventing/minimizing disease outbreaks in the area of mental health, alcoholism, and suicide.
He also serves as the director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for HIV Strategic Information, working with experts, scholars and policy makers from more than 100 countries. He is a tenured professor at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, where lead joint educational, research, and consultancy projects with the LSE, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, HSPH, Bocconi, Trieste, and Ljubljana University.
Over the course of his career, he has authored a total of 156 peer-reviewed papers with leading global publishers such as Springer Publishing, Elsevier Science, Wiley-Blackwell and Pergamon Press and has co-authored and contributed to 15 books published by John Wiley and Sons, VDM Verlag OmniScriptum, Cambridge University Press and others. He also worked as consultant for international organizations such as The World Bank, the EU Commission, and the World Health Organization.
