Welcome to the blog of the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics (PED) at Harvard. We’re an research group lead by Martin Nowak, a professor of Mathematics and Organismic & Evolutionary Biology. We use mathematical models to understand a broad range of phenomena involving evolution, including cooperation, eusociality, viruses, cancer, language, the origin of life, population structure, culture. We also study the dynamics of scientific publishing, social contagion, banks and much more!
This blog is a forum for PED researchers to discuss their research with the public, free from the technical jargon of scientific literature or the sensationalism of media reports. Follow us to keep up with the latest developments in evolutionary dynamics, straight from the source!
