On minimalism

I just wrote a page about minimalist music, Wikipedia expert editors, community friendliness, and building things upon the collective unconscious v. contributing to it, based on this post from Kyle Gann’s PostClassic.  I hope he doesn’t mind my taking his own experience and his long, well-turned post as a launching point for dissecting a recurring situation which noone likes — that some academics are turned off by WP despite being initial fans — and for correcting a number of long-standing misunderstandings about how the community works.
