Wikimedia Commons: Happy 10 Millionth!

Commons hits eight figures of media. The WMF blog post about it is lovely.

Commons growth continues to be geometric and visually stunning. And the extra horsepower running it (and making regular dumps!) marks a great improvement from last year. Now we need to help the community there keep up with its popularity!

That’s impressive. Seems that if you put “wiki” in front of something it’s popularity increases exponentially.

To be fair, Wikimedia Commons is used by the ~20 million Wikipedia articles and other Wikimedia projects. So it has little to do with the title and more to do with the natural value and use of the site!
