Hello…and Goodbye
So, I started my other class last night. This class looks to be much more interesting and practical (and the professor’s kinda’ cute to look at for two hours, too). However, as he went over the syllabus he said that the ratio between class time and homework should be 1:3…meaning for every hour of class (two hours per week) we should expect three times that amount (6 hours) worth of homework. EEK! Then, during the break, two students sitting next to me started a conversation about the program. They asked what other class I’m taking this semester and when I told them the computer class their jaws dropped and then they chuckled. As I dug for more information, I found out that they would put in upwards of 10 hours of homework each week for the computer class. They said it was very helpful, but lots of work. So, let’s see:
40 hours/week at work (includes lunch hour)
4 hours/week in class
16 hours/week doing homework
56 hours/week sleeping (8 hours/day)
5 hours/week commuting
That leaves me with only 9 (awake) hours per week for fun. But when you take out the additional time spent cooking, eating, going to the bathroom, bathing, walking the dog…I simply want to cry.
Long story short: I may not have many stories to share going forward because I’m thinking I’ll have no free time. Maybe it’s time I learn to multi-task?
On the plus side, I had my semi-annual dental cleaning this morning. I have no new cavities and the gums behind only one tooth bled. She said my teeth and gums are in incredible shape. On the negative side, I apparently have an old filling that needs to be replaced.
Oh, and I got a spam comment on my blog (how annoying)! Somebody posted to yesterday’s entry with diet instructions. Which I find odd since I’m actually thinner now than I’ve been in close to a decade.

Your life is one big ball of CONFUSION!
Come on Karl, will life stop when you start all this homework. No. Your faithful readers won’t be able to hack your absence.
Oh poor you! But I will say that I started out and took that computer class until about half way through (I dropped it for other reasons), and it wasn’t that much homework, at least not in the beginning. It was easy stuff that if you use a computer frequently, and you obviously do, then can complete fairly easily. The big thing was to make sure you follow the instructions, because the TA and teacher will both take off for stupid stuff like putting your name in the left hand corner instead of the right hand one. Jeez!
One thing I insist in a man is that he have good gums. We’re both taken, Karl, but if we weren’t, I just want you to know that since you now officially have good gums I would consider you boyfriend material. Just thought you would want to know. Oh, and don’t forget to floss.
Hey, Will! Thanks. I’ll keep that in mind. It’s good to have options. he he
Oh, and I do floss daily. My routine is pretty thorough: brush at least twice daily with my Sonic toothbrush, floss once daily, gargle at night with ACT Fluoride Rinse and gargle in the morning with Listerine.
