Merry Christmas, Everybody!
There’s a commercial I’ve been seeing on television lately for an Elmo toy. You may have seen it: Elmo is singing the Village People’s YMCA…but spelling E.L.M.O instead of Y.M.C.A. Anyway, if you’ve seen the ad you may recall that it starts off as if at a concert and the audience is chanting EL-MO, EL-MO, EL-MO. However, the first time I saw it, I couldn’t understand what they were saying and I could have sworn that this children’s toy commercial was actually saying “HELL NO, HELL NO”. I wonder if they’re aware of that?
Anway, the fact that I’m beginning to see advertisements for toys makes me realize that the Christmas season is just around the corner. In no time, I expect to start seeing commercials for the Time/Life Christmas album (which I own). Those ads always put me in the mood. Sometimes you just need a little bit of Andy Williams and Bing Crobsy to put a swing in your step. I’m ready.

See my wishlist at Amazon.com , Karl. 🙂
what, you havent gotten the Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, LLBean etc Christmas catalogs yet???
Ahhhhh the “REAL” Christmas songs….Its not Christmas in my house until I put on Nat King Cole’s Christmas CD (which I do the second I wake up the day after Thanksgiving…).
David – I’ll check it out.
Chris – I’m not on any of their lists (fortunately…waste of paper).
Doug – same here! I just love Christmas music: oldies, standards, traditional, even cheezy pop Xmas songs. It’s all good (well, maybe not the N’Sync album).
I start playing mine as early as possible (Matt frowns upon it).
i looooooove White Christmas! the movie, that is. my fave Xmas song is from that movie: Rosemary Clooneys “Love you didnt do right by me”….its not quite a christmas song, but its from a christmas movie!
That damn Elmo commercial…my sister and I were just saying last night how much it sounded like “Hell no”. And I was quite unnerved by the thought of a ferocious group of five year olds demanding their elmo doll and chanting “Hell No, we won’t go.” Until they got their wish.
Spine-tingling.
You can’t be in the Christmas spirit until at least after Halloween, preferably around Thanksgiving!
Though if anyone is curious, my Amazon and REI wishlists are available.
