Over and Under the Weather

The Boston area was blessed with an amazing weekend weather-wise. Sunny, warm (for February…upper 40’s). Today it’s sunny and in the 50’s. Unfortunately, a large ocean storm is supposed to hit us Tuesday night, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning. When they last that long – it’s never a good sign. But it looks like it’s going to be warm enough for rain instead of 3 days of snow.

Speaking of weather, I’m feeling a bit under it this morning. I’m hoping it’s just exhaustion (I had an active weekend) and not the flu or a cold. But my entire body aches (especially my back, legs and left arm…and, NO, I don’t use my left arm for “that”). I’ve also got the early stages of a sore throat coming on. I’m not sure where I got it from. IT could have been the party I went to on Saturday night (shaking hands with random people, sticking my hand in the chip bowl, etc…). It could also have been while visiting my niece at the hospital (she’s back again). This time around, they’ve put her in an isolation room where you have to wash yourself with this anti-bacterial stuff when you enter AND leave. Apparently, my niece (who looked better than I’ve seen her since last summer) is highly contagious…but not with cold or flu. I guess one of the three feeding tubes going into and out of her stomach got infected and even started developing a fungus (ewww). So, she’s in this private room that has two sets of doors (one to a private de-contamination vestibule and then another finally letting you into the room). It’s got this kick-ass air-ventilation system that’s supposed to suck out all impurities into the ceiling. Then, when you leave, you have to de-contaminate once again so the other kids in the hospital don’t get sick.

It’s all very sad – because the Mitochondrial Disease is not contagious. This is all because of the infections the tubes are giving her.

Anyway, because I wasn’t feeling well, I didn’t go to the other hospital on Sunday to visit my friend, Regina. I don’t want to risk getter her any more sick than she already is. She’s already fighting enough battles.

So, that was my weekend. Oh, and I’m not sure what drugs people are on…but as I was walking to work this morning…with my big Chia-Pet hair (I desperately need a haircut) and looking and feeling like shit with my cold/flu/malaise, TWO people checked me out. And not subtley (I never notice subtle). The first was a man…who gave me a quick once over and then locked eyes with me and smiled. Not a minute later a woman did the same thing – except she gave me the full once over starting at my feet and working her way up with her eyes. Weird! Then she smiled and looked back down at my crotch!!!!!

My first instinct was to check if my fly was buttoned up (it was) so I’m not sure what she was looking at. Maybe Chris’ fashion advice (buying clothes that actually fit) is helping? Thanks, Chris!

i take it youve been growing the hair out so that you can cultivate the Jake Gylenhaal haircut i proposed to you when you were here last (to readers: i real life, karl does have moments where he does resemble jake gylenhaal. go figure!) like on the cover of Vitals.

a plump bottom such as yours will make your pants pull rear-wards…also enhancing your package area. see, FIT works!

as for your cold issues…god knows WHO or WHAT youve been doing with those hands and mouth. eeew!

I never notice the subtle ones, either. My friends will say “He’s checking you out” and I’ll be like “who? where?”. I’m pathetic.
