Breaking Even

Well, I got my taxes back last night. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I broke even. Normally I get money back, but with selling a condo after living there for under two years, I was expecting to pay thousands in capital gains. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case. I did get screwed for having Matt on my medical insurance last year because the government considers the insurance additional income and taxes me at a higher rate (as you would for a bonus or lottery winnings). But overall, the fact that I didn’t owe money was quite a surprise.

Oh, and I took some pictures of Dusty over the weekend while visiting my folks and last night compared them to pictures of her from a year ago.

Wow – what a difference a year makes.
