Fashion Week
OK, so I know that Fashion Week in New York City already took place, but I guess I’m a little late seeing as I’m blogging about clothes two days in a row this week instead.
First, I returned those two dress shirts yesterday. In doing so, I did some research. Apparently, any shirt with a size 16 neck (no matter what the arm length) is considered large. Shirts at size 15.5 neck and lower are medium. So, a MEDIUM size 16 could not be found – because it doesn’t seem to exist. I searched Macy’s, H&M, Filene’s, Filene’s Basement and even Marshall’s. I did manage to find a FITTED size 16 by Geoffrey Beene at Filene’s, which seemed to fit a bit better. Despite not likely needing to wear a dress shirt again for the next few years, I purchased one in white and one in blue. Being gay, I felt it was my duty to look reasonably splashy, yet with different looks, at the funeral tomorrow and at the memorial next week.
And there’s even more fashion stuff to discuss. On my way to work this morning, I was reading in the Metro newspaper that the mayor is putting sneakers and socks on statues throughout the city to promote Boston as a America’s walking city. I suppose that’s clever…but I wonder what John Adams would really think if he saw his statue looking like a bronzed 1970’s basketball player:

Ohhh! So this is what’s going on. Last night, walking through the Boston Public Garden, I noticed that all the “Make Way for Duckling Statues” had on those types of sneakers that kids wear that light up as you walk. Since I had no idea what was going on, I was totally baffled. NOW I know.
Banana Republic(or The Gap) and Brooks Brothers are both great places to get better fitting dress shirts.
That. Is. The STUPIDEST idea . America’s Walking City? Are you kidding me? 30 zillion cabs, the T, the trolleys, and a tangle of traffic everywhere you look – in the walking city. For crissakes, call Lake Buena Vista the Walking City, you walk your ASS off down there. No cabs!
And do a blue shirt and a white shirt constitute splashy dressing? I mean, I realize as a non gay I am at something of a disadvantage here, so forgive me, but that doesn’t SOUND splashy… you are such a goof. I love you!
Isn’t that Sam Adams? He wears socks like my dad. Stylin’.
Ok, the statues look stupid.
And Karyn, even being a gay man…
A whie and blue dress shirt is not splashy.
Most of us have to wear those every day.
Now if he had gone with metallic magenta or something, that would have been splashy. 🙂
karl might look good in magenta. hmmmm. and if he got say a magenta and grey striped shirt and a very slim wool medium-shade grey suit, silver tag monaco, 5 oclock shadow. *stylin* (but hed never do it)
