Emotion

I know I’m going to get a lot of slack from Matt for using the title of a Barbra Streisand album as my blog heading today. But after this past year, I can take the ribbing.

Last night as I was surfing the internet for porn…I mean researching my trip to Paris…a commercial came on advertising that the show Prime Time with Diane Sawyer was going to have an “exlusive” interview with Miss Streisand. Even after nearly a decade living with Matt and going to every movie released or re-released, listening to every new (and old) album repeatedly and even visiting the Barbra Streisand Musuem multiple times, I still got sucked into the interview.

The interview was fine (I’m sure Matt’s blog will provide more detail). But what I found hilarious was that she started complaining about all of those erectile dysfunction ads that are on TV right now. And once her segment was over, Prime Time went to a commercial for Cialis. I actually started laughing out loud. Was that intentional? Was it for spite? Were they mocking her? Either way – it was classic television timing.

Oh, and you might be wondering why I chose “emotion” as my blog title. Of course, part of it was to tie in with the Babs interview. But, to be honest, it’s also because I’ve been a rather emotional wreck these past few days. Who the hell am I kidding…I’ve been an emotional wreck for the past year. So, with the loss of my niece a week ago today, and the looming one year anniversary of my break up with Matt in a few weeks – the Barbra special brought with it extra sadness.

However, this odd little link cheered me up. It takes a few minutes to download (even with cable or DSL…”Here’s wishing you a happy cat birthday”), but it’s quirky fun. Who knows…maybe le Streisand will have some competition on the charts as a result of this guy?

Well, I think that the “Main Event” of this blog is that “You don’t send me flowers anymore” which is a real let down since I think that you’re an “Evergreen” sort of guy that reminds me of a “Second Hand Rose” but could end up being a “Funny Girl” after all.

Karl, you’re entitled to use “Emotion” as your header for crissakes. I didn’t even put it together w/ the babs thing, I just chalked it up to your monumentally horrible year. Relax there slugger.

Karl, that video is the gayest straight-man clip I have seen since all of the football players started galloping around in the locker room in “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” as if they were Gordon MacRae in Oklahoma! He’s “Got the Leather Got the Lumber?” It even has kink! Where ever did you find that? Oh and btw, I taped the Bab’s interview because I was so sleepy Thursday. Just in case you want to see it again! LOL

OH NO!!! You were my only TV connection. I just don’t watch television. I didn’t even know Barbra was on TV!!!! NOOOOOOO!!! I didn’t get to see her talk. But, I am thrilled to hear she had a new topic to discuss. Erectile dysfunction. Let’s hope that Mr. Brolin is not experiencing this or the marriage will end — based on all those career long rumours.

By the way, I met someone who is friends with a grip who has been working with James Brolin for years. And, recently, Babs stopped by the studio where they were working. Brolin introduced my friend’s friend to Babs for the first time. He said she was very nice but the funny thing was that one of the other actors on the set walked over and gave Mr. Brolin a gift of his fave candy — a big roll of licorice (sp’????) string. …Babs grabbed it and said, “I am taking this home. I can’t wait to tie you up tonight and have my way with you!”

…everyone laughed, but my friend’s friend said Barbra giggled but then promptly placed the roll in her bag, kissed Brolin goodbye and told him to try and get home on time.

I love that story, but am not sure I am comfortable with the visuals imposed in my head.

I am impressed you even remember that “Emotion” was the name of a Babs LP!

…can’t believe I missed her on tv, tho.
