Adding Spice to My Life

I did a rare thing last night: I got together with a friend for dinner on a school night. To most people that sounds pretty lame. Heck, it’s probably routine to most.

But for me, routine means arriving home at the same time each evening, eating at the same time each evening and going to bed at the same time each evening. It comforts me. It pleases me.

So, it was indeed a rare occurance for me to meet up with a friend and go out to dinner. See? Therapy is working!

Anyway, I lingered at the office (surfing the net) for an extra hour and we met up in Cambridge. I hadn’t seen Kevin (that’s the friend, obviously) since late August or early September (aside from a chance 15 second meeting at the subway station on the way to the airport for my trip to Paris). It was great catching up and I’m hoping this can become a more regular thing since he comes to Cambridge for other reasons every week.

This coming weekend, I’ve got even more exciting plans. My friend, Jason (of Ex Post Facto blog fame) has invited me to, gasp, a Halloween pumpkin carving party. I’m afraid. Very afraid.

I have these awful visions of a group of people accidentally slicing off fingers and poking each other’s eyes out. But Jason is a hoot to hang out with so I’m sure we’ll all have a good time despite the accidental dismemberings.

Is therapy actually making you social?? Perish the thought. Soon, you’ll actually stay up past 9! You WILD man!

I’m not saying it won’t happen, because it might, but you can always count on my friends to make tragedies into comedies. HOOT!

Better be careful if you’re producing Halloween “arts and crafts.” The parents who shut down Halloween at that school in Newton will be out to get you!
