More Unwanted Excitement

My mother went to the doctor yesterday because the head ache associated with her fall on Monday had improved a bit but had not gone away completely. Well, the doctor did a quick once-over and then told her she should go to Cape Cod Hospital’s emergency room. The ER did a bunch of tests (including CAT scans/x-rays) and discovered that she has a blood clot in her brain.

They’re not sure whether this is a RESULT of her fall, or whether it was pre-existing condition and was the CAUSE of the fall. Either way, they admitted her to the hospital where she remains at this moment. I spoke with my Dad last night and offered to come down to assist (though, I’m not quite sure what I’d actually do) but he said not to bother. When he left my Mom around 8:30 PM she was in good spirits. He said they just wanted to keep her in for 24 hours or so for observation (and to put her on IV). He expects that she’ll be returning home this afternoon (fingers crossed).

I really am starting to wonder whether I’m somehow cursed right now. For every good thing that happens, I get something bad. Matt and I buy a condo, then we break up. I settle into my own apartment and newfound single life, and my close friend dies of breast cancer. I enjoy a summer of travel, then my niece dies. I got to Europe for the first time, then I get a 2+ week sinus infection and my Mom and sister-in-law are hospitalized simultaneously.

I swear, if I was Catholic, I’d be feeling Catholic guilt. Right now, I’m just perplexed…and questioning whether I should do enjoyable things anymore. I love too many people to put them all at risk.

Karl, nothing you do can cause misfortune to or for others. Life has a habit of passing out unfortunate surprises. Here’s hoping that everything turns out well for your mother. Please let us all know. Hugs, Will

Karl, Don’t you dare stop doing enjoyable things anymore! What’s happening is just life, a cycle of bad things that would happen no matter what. Do you really think you possess some sort of reverse karma? The universe is not paying that much attention to you. 😉 It’s the pleasurable things & silliness that get us through the rest.

Stop it! Stop acting like a big drama queen.
    Your’re a leather queen, remember?
