It’s the Least Wonderful Time of the Year

I’m just kidding. I really do love this time of year. But my heading today is mocking yesterday’s heading for Jason’s blog: Ex Post Facto. You see, Jason came over last night for our fairly regular Rummy matches. And he quickly and efficiently ended my one game winning streak* with little effort.

The distractions of pizza, a flambouyant and bright Christmas tree, and the DVD of White Christmas weren’t enough to diminish his skill with the game. In fact, Jason would literally stop playing cards and start doing upper-body choreography (while remaining seated) to the various musical numbers in the movie. He also did a bit of singing. Then he’d jump back in the game as if nothing had happened.

Meanwhile, my initial lead in the game got smaller and smaller until we hit the 500 mark (where we were tied). From that point on, the gap between our scores grew greater and greater. He ultimately won by nearly 200 points.

In my defense, the ass-whooping he took last time was in the 300 point range – proving that when I’m bad, I’m fairly bad. But when Jason is bad, he sucks BIG TIME.

*Can it really be considered a streak if it was only one game?

Too bad I wasn’t there, I would’ve loved to have seen Jason’s arm motions to “Love You Didn’t Do Right By Me”. Were you playing George Chakiris to his Rosemary Clooney?

Hmmmmm. That upper body choreography sounds intriguing. I’ll have to chose some dance music as background to the QBB gathering.

Ah, Karl, how pride cometh before a fall…
