We’re “Lost” for the Summer

Most of our favorite television shows finished their seasons just before we went to Europe. However, there were a few season finales on the DVR when we got back: Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy…

…and Lost. Last night we watched the last one: Lost. Randy is WAY more into this show than I am. He’s been trying to get me to watch his stories as long as I’ve known him. He’s converting me on a few occasions (such as Lost), but I could still take it or leave it.

One show he absolutely has wet dreams over is Battlestar Gallactica, and that is one show I just can’t get into. (I’ve made him watch the 4 shows on the DVR on his own).

But now with every single show finally off the air (and off the DVR), I’m in need of some summer time distractions. Yeah, I could go outside and enjoy the oppressive heat and humidity. Or I could find NEW shows to watch! I enjoyed the first episode of Swingtown last week (second episode on tonight). And since the whole premise is suburban husbands and wives having orgies together, I’m very curious to see how this could become a series now that all of those activities already took place in the first episode. I suppose there could be the syphillis scare episode, or perhaps the episode where the wife of husband A starts developeing feelings for husband of wife B. Or even more scandalous, Husband B develops feelings for Husband A. Now THAT would be prime time.

Oh, I’m with Randy – Battlestar Galactica is freakin’ BRILLIANT…but it does to start at the beginning…one of the best-written shows I’ve ever seen, with all kinds of thorny philosophic issues swirling around behind it all (my best guess right now is that we Earth humans turn out to be Cylons…) – It’s not over yet for the season, is it?

On the other hand, I’ve never watched “Lost,” though much of the cast appears to be eminently watchable…

I like your idea about Husbands A&B…that’ll have to make it into the plotline eventually…

I think “Lost” is the best network show in ages. How the writers keep all the plotlines, flash-forwards, flash-backs, and whatnot coordinated is beyond me. LOVE. IT.

If you’re looking for something fun for summer, the new season of “Weeds” starts next week on Showtime. Mary Louise Parker rocks.

Thanks Fred and Dave. These are the 2 best shows on TV! No questions. Best writing, most interesting story lines and all. Well you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make em drink now can you. Karl seems to want to watch every reality show on tv, which could all go down the toilet if you ask me.
Long live the cylons… I kind of agree with your analysis Fred and as for Lost I still dont know.

Heya Randy – a.) I’m entirely with you on reality shows – I got sick of “Real World” by the time they’d done it three times or so, and all the rest – I can handle the home-improvement ones, and Penn & Teller’s “Bulls**t” & “Mythbusters” are fun, but, otherwise, rather be living my own reality, thanks. On BG – hey, we’re a MOSTLY monotheistic planet and have been for some time, much like the Cylons…or will it be that Gaius Baltar is Jesus Christ?! There’s so many possibilities (and wouldn’t that last send the fundamentalists into orbit, so to speak…)
