Our Third Date

I’m guessing that you’ve all read on my blog that I’ve been dating somebody. Well, last night was our third date and I think we both had a great time.

Our first date was about two and a half years ago. We went to see Shortbus at the Kendall Square Cinema. Our second date happened maybe 6 months to a year later when we ate at an Italian restaurant in Teele Square. And last night was our most recent date – we saw MILK at the Capitol Theatre in Arlington (I know, I know, we’re probably the last two people to see the movie).

It’s pretty sad that Randy and I have been together for over two and a half years but have only been on three dates. Since the beginning, we would simply either go to each other’s home when we got together. In fact, that night at the Italian restaurant was the first time we’d eaten out alone together after dating all that time.

And now that we’ve lived together for nearly a year and a half, it seems the only time we do eat in restaurants alone is when we travel. I suppose we’ve technically been on more dates then since we travel so much…but I’m talking local dating in the traditional sense.

Anyway, we had a fun time and both agree we need to do stuff like that more often. Though, it can make for a fun story to say that we moved in together after only two dates.

Heh he – I guess that two-date thing makes you guys slow-motion-lesbians-by-proxy…

For the record, I’ve read the book ’tis based on, but haven’t seen “Milk” yet, either…just haven’t found the time and there’ll always be Netflix…

Hey Karl, I can relate.. We’ve been married for 12 years and have only been on 8 dates.. hmmm…. maybe we got something screwed up? haha.. then again we must be doing something with all our time since we have had three children together during that time.. ? Anyway.. my dates have been as follows… Dinner and a movie.. Usually it’s a man movie.. my last few have been psycho thrillers, fast and the furious.. something.. and other testostorone filled films. For some reason, whenever I suggest a movie I get a tantrum.. something about it being a chick flick.. as if the movie’s he chooses are so much better. I wish I could have seen MILK with you guys.. 🙂 I did catch a few DVD’s last weekend.. great movie.. 7 Pounds with will smith.. liked the tear jerker..

    Hey, Fred!

I read the book, too. And I saw the 1980’s document “The Life and Times of Harvey Milk.”

    Interesting stuff.

It was funny… this older couple sat behind us and when Harvey got shot she asked her husband “Did that really happen?”

I guess I just assumed that all people know the story…but I guess most straight people don’t.

    Will perplexed!

Just what is a date these days. What does it mean “to date”?

I once wrote to fellow blogger Mark in Dallas when he dropped the information that he was dating Brian–with whom he’d been living and having sex for four years. Dating?, I asked, aren’t you guys JUST a tad past the dating phase? He wrote back that yes, things really had progressed beyond dating.
