Interesting Email Archiving Tool

3

A friend of mine approached me the other day and starting describing a pretty cool email archiving solution.  Now your standard tools today are focused mainly on storage capabilities and compliance issues, such as Sarbanes Oxley.  What has been missing though is the link to knowledge management tools – Gartner mentioned that nearly 70% of a company’s knowledge is locked up in their emails.  Really no way of getting to it effectively.  One can now send that important 3MB file you got from a colleague a month ago while you’re playing golf from your mobile devices via this solution.  Worth checking out the company Aftermail.  http://www.aftermail.com

Aftermail is not doing anything novel, and is three years behind the real leaders in the field. It’s just a SQL database hung off the end of a journal feed. Old news.

The problem with storing the mail in SQL is that the database will be huge!

Aftermail sold for nearly $30 million last week. So much for a company that “is not doing anything novel.”
