Feed Me

Still prepping for my October marathon in SF.  Woke up insanely early for my 22 mile run Saturday morning.  Apparently I was the only one who made it as the two friends who were supposed to meet up with me both overslept!  Having done it myself on a couple of occasions, I couldn’t very well blame them.  Ended up braving the dark, deserted streets of Santa Monica by myself.  Not my wisest move.  Spent the first hour of the pre-dawn run terrified of shadows and spooky noises.  You all will be glad to know I survived the run however.

Spent the rest of the weekend with T at his aunt and uncle’s house in Orange County.  Learned that I apparently eat much more (or at least much more often) than a regular person.  Was starving the entire visit.  I ordinarily snack throughout the day, but since I didn’t feel particularly free to poke around a stranger’s fridge (although I did forage once or twice for an apple), I spent much of the weekend in an advanced state of hunger.  I’ve learned my lesson.  I’m never spending the weekend away from home without a ready supply of snacks again!  My stomach still hasn’t forgiven me.  =(

They Know Not What They Do

So I learned something new this weekend.  Throughout college, my friend D would jokingly say “They know not what they do” whenever he was feeling slightly slighted.  I loved it and incorporated it into my own repertoire.  This weekend, I learned that apparently D did not make this phrase up.  It turns out some guy named Jesus beat him to it.  Who knew?

A Perfect Storm

Had an interesting, irrational moment late Saturday night.  Ordinarily, I pride myself on my almost boy-like rationality.*  I’m not easily angered, am definitely not ruled by my emotions, and am generally very logical.  There are very few instances where my heart and mind aren’t in accord.  Saturday was one of them.  A perfect confluence of factors – tiredness, discomfort (my eyes and contact lenses are apparently mortal enemies), and rare moodiness on my part – lead to my first fight with T.

Poor T didn’t see it coming, didn’t recognize it when it was there, and certainly didn’t know how to deal with it.  Especially as my response to everything was, “Yes, I KNOW I’m being irrational!”

Luckily, we weathered the storm, T was great, he apologized, I apologized, and all is well.  Guess I’m more of a girl than I give myself credit for.  =)

*Not to play too much into gender stereotypes or anything, but come on, y’all know exactly what I’m talking about!

Pretty…

I just ordered these (which I first spotted on this site).  Aren’t they gorgeous?  Won’t they look great with t-shirt and jeans or a black pencil skirt and cardigan?  I ordered these despite the fact that all the reviews I read on Zappos indicated they are horribly uncomfortable.  And despite the fact that I actually own another pair of canvas peep toes which are indeed horribly uncomfortable.  So much for being rational.  They were just too pretty to resist!  Plus, I have to work today, so I totally deserve them…right?

The List

Spent some quality time yesterday with Roomie and my little sis B, both of whom are back in town after extended absences.  T says I plan my days around food.  Appearantly this runs in the family.  Roomie, B and I couldn’t pick between dim sum or Indian food for lunch, so we decided dim sum for lunch and Indian food for dinner.  The catch was that B actually lives about 60 miles away and had only planned to come by for lunch, but seeing the possibility of Indian food in sight (paid for by yours truly), she opted to stick around and kill the hours in-between until she was hungry again.  We watched Princess Mononoke (weird anime movie) and snacked.  At one point I had to notify her that the snacking was probably going to delay the onset of hunger, thus pushing our delicious Indian dinner further back.  We stopped snacking.

During the day outing with Roomie and B, the topic of my top 5 fans came up.  We all decided that I was probably at the top of the list, followed closely by my grandmother (who adores me) and T (who also adores me).  Roomie and B vied for fourth and fifth on the list. It was a good day yesterday.

Today didn’t start out so great when I locked myself out of my apartment for 25 minutes while trying to do laundry.  Fortunately, Roomie heard my fervant knocking eventually (she was in the shower) and let me in, but not until I’d wandered all over the complex in my PJ’s looking for the security guard to see if he had keys (he didn’t).  Thinking, “Well, at least with all this drama, the dryer’s almost done,” I promptly headed back to the laundry room to take out my clothes.  Only to realize that while I had put money in and waited for the top dryer to finish…my clothes laid waiting for me, soaking wet, in the bottom dryer.

The rest of the day went much better.  Met T in the Valley for lunch before his shift started.  Had a pizzookie at BJ’s.  For those unfortunate few who are not familiar with the pizzookie – aka, the pizza cookie  – get yourself to a BJ’s ASAP!  It is a culinary delight not to be missed.  =)
