Disney Princesses Ranked

Here’s a quick summary of the virtues and flaws of Disney Princesses.  It shows real progress in moving from sweet docility to adventurous feistiness.  Is it time to make a new version of Snow White, now that we are approaching her 100th anniversary?  Well, still a few years to go, but she is already in her 70s.

  1. This is very interesting.
I’ll quote you on this, plus the article, plus Jack Zipes on Disney in my June Barking Planet Blog.
I’m continuing with the wonderful Enchanted Hunters now that we have returned from our spring journey to the USA.

  2. This is most interesting. I did an interview for German television recently in which I argued that “Bond Girls” were undergoing is a similar metamorphosis. And if we argue that Bond films are essentially fairy tales…

    I enjoy your blog, Maria.

  3. I wish I’d seen this in April when I taught a class on fairytales. We focused on Snow White and of course the Disney girls came up as a topic for discussion often. (The class’s favorite rendition was Mirror Mirror.) I think I will have to go through the Bond movies now to see if Dr. Howells’ suggestion does obtain.
