Hiking on Mount Doug

I’m a very quotidien photographer, but the scenery around me is anything but quotidien. So I decided to post some pictures from a hike the kids and I went on yesterday. See the rest of the photos here.

I don’t think you can see Mt. St. Helens from there. I think it is too far off but I could be wrong 🙂

  3. Oh thanks Joel!, jeez, you are on the case 24/7. Don’t you ever sleep?? 😉

Doug, that’s the first time ever that I saw that particular mountain, and neither I or the kids could figure it out. It was to the southeast, it was huge (on the scale of Mt. Baker, i.e., not just a big hill, like Mt. Doug is), and it looked lopped off, as I said. Maybe we really could see Mt. St. Helen’s,due to some weird meteorological phenom? Who knows. It was nice, anyway.

I always wish I had the right camera and lenses and filters to get the real “wow!” effect.

And as for the gray owl: my kids laughed their heads off when they saw that picture. They were like, “what’s with your eyes?, what’s with the Betty Boop imitation?”, …well anyway, along those lines. But they’re just bloody lucky I’m not posting all the hilarious pictures I have of them on the mountain, haha! I’m keeping those for future blackmailing purposes, bwahaha! And why, you might wonder, did I post that of myself? Well, partly to show that, depending on the light, I look mighty different from the picture on my blog, and because I wear glasses (which I’m not wearing on the blog picture), and I use my glasses as eye makeup, and wear only lipstick, which is on crooked in this picture, and you can see the scar on my lip (from a Burmese cat attack, the lovely Dalia, back when I was 11+). And because when all is said and done, the picture at least doesn’t make me look jowly, which I can be, having a jaw like an ice-breaker, and which every picture that gets taken from a low angle does make me look.

In other words, I’m a bloody narcissist like everyone else, yeah!

But, not necessarily like everyone else, I live in a really nice part of the world….

…Sorry, I’m having a smug attack. Don’t worry it’ll pass. I’ll let the rest of the country get back to shovelling snow now, shall I? (heeheeheeheeheee)
