  2. You know what my favourite passage was in his post? This:

    Wondering about the typist home at tea time, the rats scavenging rotting food from her empty tins; musing on her automatic hand, the broken fingernails on Margate Sands, Albert, Lil and Philomel, the wind under the door and other withered stumps of time, I thought not of the mildly seguing powers sex holds over me, but of the universes and worlds peopled by those to whom sex is not a sacred rite of renewal, a sharing of all that we are, a true and complete moment’s surrender. Wendy and I recently watched a programme insert on bondage, wherein a university psychologist justified its increasing popularity as a therapeutic alternative to vanilla sex. Call me what you will, but when I get tired of vanilla sex, they can take me out and shoot me.

  3. And I guess it really rang a bell with me because UVic recently hosted a symposium on bondage.

    People, people: we aren’t talking about plain old sex anymore, we’re in the realm of fetishism now, and that’s an area rife for the picking by consumer culture and marketing and “workshops” (oh, gag me with a spoon — or should I say butt plug…).
