Amazon to Make Book Content Searchable

Wow. This is significant. Wired News carries this lengthy article by By Gary Wolf on Amazon.com’s plans to allow internet search of a vast library of book content… See The Great Library of Amazonia.

According to the article, Amazon has “created an unrivaled digital archive of more than 120,000 books,” with a goal of making the “entire collection, which went live Oct. 23 … searchable, and every page … viewable.”

The article will appear in Wired magazine in December, but is sure to create a lot of discussion in the meantime. What a copyright tangle!
