She Said Fuckabees
Huckabees was very reminiscent of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but I can’t really explain why. Or maybe I can. Both are wholly original, greatly imaginative, playful and melancholy at the same time, and both have as a plot device the bringing of big philosophy/psychology issues into everyday use. Maybe it is a new genre, not magic realism but some kind of philosophical realism.
My only complaint is the use of the African man.

Maybe it’s the posters?
?
I wasn’t sure what to do with the African man either, other than maybe a mild critique of our tacit support of what’s happening in Sudan.
I liked “Huckabees” quite a bit and thought about the film’s similarities to “Eternal Sunshine.” Yes, I think there is a cycle of films that may be emerging. Not sure where else to go with that observation, though.
The posters advertising the films are similar as I recall.
hmmm, i haven’t seen any of the posters for either film.
The music in both films is by Jon Brion, though his score in Huckabees is more reminisicent of his work in Punch Drunk Love.
