Oscarzzzzzzzzzz
I spent all of last night on the phone and didn’t watch the Oscars. I
did flip it on briefly and saw Sean Penn prefacing his announcement of
the Best Actor award by defending Jude Law from Chris Rock’s barbs, but
that was it. A next-day recap and a fashion slideshow
is all I need. I was thinking last night that they should have a
scorecard up in the corner during the looooooong broadcast, just like
in football games. A list of those who’ve already won, for those who
join the show late. Then all I’d have to do is flip it on, check the
score, flip it back off.

If you’re bored by an awards ceremony ipso facto – even one celebrating cinema – no words of mine are going to convince you, but you happened to miss the shortest and quickest -paced telecast in years. There really weren’t many dull moments – or any fat they could trim. Except those dire musical numbers.
I don’t know – despite the Academy’s attempt to speed it up by having the “not so important awards” given to the people IN THE AISLE instead of on the stage, it still seemed to go on forever. I’m all for the box in the corner of the screen with a score.
yeah 3 hours and 11 minutes is still looooong … they should definitely get rid of the songs, i have never met anyone who enjoys the musical performance. why do they still do them if they are so universally hated? and how rude to make the ‘lesser’ winners take their awards in the aisle.
