All Roads Lead To Silver Spring

I just had a conversation with someone where I mentioned being from
Silver Spring Maryland, and it turns out they lived there for a few
years in the past as well. This happens all the time. Everyone has
Silver Spring in their past, it seems. They also called me a “Southern
Belle”, which also happens all the time, as everyone up here thinks
anything below New York is The South.

Reminds me of when I was moving to NYC from Chicago. One of my NYC co-workers asked about my trip in a moving truck “so, that’ll take what, like 2, maybe 3 hours?

Some folks just don’t know geography.

And some people don’t even know where the Mason-Dixon line is.
Would you prefer “Mid-Atlantic Region Belle”? Is that geographically accurate?

yes the mason-dixon line is a very contentious issue, from what i’ve seen. you don’t want to bring it up in an irish bar close to last call, that’s for sure. and while mid-atlantic region belle is more geographically accurate, it doesn’t trip off the tongue very gracefully, so i’ll stick with southern belle. especially since everyone here hates the south.
